Do NOT use Lexapro if:
you have an allergy to any of the ingredients in Lexapro
you are using citalopram
you are taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (eg, phenelzine), selegiline, or St. John's wort within the last 14 days
you are using a fenfluramine derivative (eg, dexfenfluramine), an H1 antagonist (eg, astemizole, terfenadine), nefazodone, pimozide, or sibutramine

Before using Lexapro:
There are several medical conditions that can get into interaction with Lexapro. Please report to your physician or pharmacist any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
if you are pregnant, going to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding

if you or your family member has experienced bipolar disorder (manic-depression), or any other mental or mood problems, suicidal attempts, alcohol or substance abuse
if you have a history of seizures, liver problems, severe kidney problems, stomach or bowel bleeding, or metabolism problems
if you are dehydrated, have low blood sodium levels, or drink alcohol
if you are going to have electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)
There are certain medications that might interact with Lexapro. Please ask your health care provider whether Lexapro may start interacting with any of the other medicines that you are taking. Check up with your physician before starting, stopping, or changing the dose of any medications.
